What does ordinary mean nowadays?

I am a teenager like probably thousands of people out there. Maybe I am weirder than other people or how some parents like to say "more ordinary". Maybe I am as close to what society defines as normal as anyone could ever be or as far away as somehow possible.

When I tell people that I am attending a boarding school I either get the reply "That is so cool, being far away from your parents!" or "Wow your parents must be loaded!" or another option is always the good old "What kind of trouble did you get yourself in that your parents hate you so much."

Then my answer is always "I am not in any kind of trouble. I just decided to try something new but I still love and miss my family - that is btw not loaded at all! - a lot."

There are so many prejudices in the world nowadays, it's making me sick!

All I am, all I want to be, is a normal teenager. Who kisses her crush hoping that he might like her back or being crazy enough to believe that she and her boyfriend will be the first to make a long-distance relationship work. Who fights with her best friend and maybe never talks to her again. Who is under the constant pressure of today's society.

Because let's face it. Society is screwing with all of us and those who deny it just deny themselves. No one is perfect but yet everyone expects someone else to be perfect. We get into arguments hoping that the other person will fight for us like it is portrayed in all those movies.

Well newsflash: those movies are created in HOLLYWOOD. A place where everyone pretends to be someone better than you, where everyone pretends to be perfect. But that is as big of a lie as those movies are.

The world is cruel, it is unfair and it will always mess with us as long as we don't try to change something.

Of course I bet you that if you are reading this right now you are saying "Hey! I am not like that. I can change something and I can stop society from messing with me."

If you are that person then congratulations! You just fooled yourself even more and helped me prove my point.

I am definitely far from being perfect and so are you. The only difference between us might just be that I already started accepting this fact.

But back to my main question. What does ordinary really mean?

I is just a term that people came up with to cheer us up after we figured out that no one is perfect? Or is there an actual meaning behind it?

According to Google it means "with no special or distinctive features, normal"

So basically we are saying that we are not perfect but we don't have to be ashamed of it because we are all the same since everyone is ordinary.

I think the second part is a complete lie.

We can't just say that we are all ordinary, because in at least one way we are all different from each other.

And saying that we are all normal is just another way of turning us all into one mass of sameness just like the whole being perfect thing is.
